The Fall of Singapore (in video) - Feb 1942.

When others have done better research and work than me, I put their works here for those interested.

Here are two videos, on the Fall of Singapore, and the Surrender of Singapore

The Fall of Singapore:

Churchill wanted "no thought of surrender until protracted fighting among the ruins of Singapore City" (at 2:18 of the video), which is kinda callous. And would have taken a horrendous toll on Singapore and the residents.

Though with what happened during the Japanese Occupation, perhaps it would have been better?

The Surrender of Singapore

This is informative.

I have read elsewhere that Yamashita was bluffing as he was running low on supplies and ammunition and his men were outnumbered.

BUT... his men were battle-hardened and experienced veterans, whereas the defenders had lots of untrained and inexperienced soldiers.

Again, in hindsight, some men might have preferred to fight to the death in battle than to suffer the indignities heaped on them in Japanese POW camps.

But hindsight is 20/20.
